September 20, 2007 @ 5:48 pmWhat lovely pets you have! We have a Great Pyr too & he is beautiful. We also have a Great Pyr/ German Shepherd mix & she is absolutely beautiful! We have 6 puppies from our two adult dogs. They are extremely beautiful too. Your site is great. We live in the country & our dogs love every minute of it. Excellent guard dogs & very loving to children also. I do have a question though. Do you know of anything, along with brushing their coats, that will aid getting cockle burrs out? They seem to like our creek/ditch & come back with 30-40 burrs a day. They are very good about letting us remove them but I though you may know of something that allows them to come out easier. Thank you!
November 29, 2007 @ 10:26 amHmm… this mostly just takes patience. Our Berner doesn’t really attract burrs but our Pyr does. They can be a pain to remove as he has a very thick coat. On some stubborn burrs, we have used a bit of baby oil on the burr to loosen them. We’ve even cut a few really stubborn ones out.

Unfortunately he has been suffering from hot spots and dry flaky skin on and off for the past 2 yrs. I have exhausted my funds with vet bills. have not had good results with prescribed antibiotics, shampoos, etc.
The diet he has been on sice I got him, is Eaglepack Holistic dry food ( Sardine and Anchovy, also lamb and rice formula) He loves the food. I’ve tried many supplements online, such as Nyzmes tablets, Nu Vet Plus wafers. I also have him on 3 V Caps, Biotin, and multi vitamins as well. Please if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you. Thanks!
